Introducing the extraordinary craftsmanship of Custo Mosaic with their Handmade Authentic Berber Tagine. This ceramic cooking and serving tagine is a testament to the rich cultural diversity of Moroccan handcrafts, showcasing impeccable design, quality materials, and vibrant colors. By acquiring such exquisite pieces, you contribute to reviving a dying craft and preserving the timeless connection between the past and the present, while also bringing happiness to skilled artisans in need.

Crafted from a unique material known as "Clay," sourced exclusively from the city of Fes in a specific location called "Ben Jellik," the production process of this tagine is a true labor of love. The clay is carefully collected and left to dry for 20 days before being crushed into small pieces with a large hammer. After another day of drying, it is submerged in water for two days, followed by a meticulous process of removing unwanted rocks and impurities. This particular activity is exclusive to Fes, where the relationship with the sun plays a significant role.

Talented artisans then take over, shaping the clay dough into an array of exquisite products, including flower vases, jars, plates, and, of course, the remarkable tagines themselves. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, showcasing the true artistry and skill passed down through generations, making it a treasured part of Morocco's heritage.

Once the handmade products are ready, they are fired in an oven at a scorching temperature of 2000°C for a duration of eight hours. Following this intensive process, the artisans begin painting the tagines with colors inspired by Moroccan fortunes, dining tables, and walls. Only natural-based colors sourced from local resources are used, and the paintbrushes are crafted from fine horsehair. The result is a vibrant and long-lasting paint finish that adds a touch of beauty and elegance to the tagine.

To enhance their luster, the products are coated with a special material, allowing them to be placed back in the oven for an additional eight hours, where they are carefully baked using burned wood. This final step ensures the tagines are not only visually stunning but also fully functional for daily use. Whether you choose to serve cold or hot dishes, these tagines are designed to withstand both with ease.

Embracing the tradition of Zellige, the tagines undergo additional firings to bring forth their distinctive patterns. Skilled artisan Nekkach meticulously determines the pattern based on the intended placement of the Zellige. Using ancient references such as Karaouiyn and the majestic palaces of kings, he arranges the geometric motifs in a captivating and visually striking manner.

To preserve the beauty and longevity of the Zellige, a material known as "La resin" or "cola sima" is applied and allowed to dry. Once dry, the tagines are carefully flipped to reveal the mesmerizing Zellige design, showcasing the true artistry and craftsmanship of clay in the city of Fes.

Indulge in the authentic charm and culinary heritage of Morocco with Custo Mosaic's Handmade Authentic Berber Tagine. Whether you use it for cooking traditional dishes or as a stunning centerpiece, this customizable dining and serving tagine is a testament to the skill, passion, and cultural richness woven into each piece.
