Every tile is meticulously handcrafted by skilled professionals, reflecting the cultural diversity and artistry of Moroccan handcrafts. The design, materials, and natural colors used on the surface of the tiles showcase the beauty and authenticity of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. The height of each tile offers the possibility of personal customization, allowing you to create a unique and personalized space.

Crafted from the finest mosaic materials, these tiles are made with exclusive clay sourced only from Fes City, particularly from the specific location of "Ben Jellik." The clay is carefully collected and left to dry for 20 days, after which it is broken into smaller pieces using a large hammer. Once again, the clay is left to dry for a full day before being immersed in water for two days. Skilled workers meticulously clean the clay, removing unwanted rocks and impurities. This specialized process is unique to Fes City, drawing inspiration from the close relationship between the clay and the sun.

Talented artisans then shape the clay dough into various forms, including flower vases, jars, plates, and the remarkable handmade mosaic tiles we proudly present. Each tile represents an inherited craftwork, passed down through generations, and celebrates the rich artistic heritage of Morocco.

Following the shaping process, the handmade tiles are placed in an oven and fired at an impressive temperature of 2000°C for eight hours. This firing ensures their durability and longevity. Once fired, the tiles are meticulously hand painted using natural-based colors derived from local resources. Fine paintbrushes made from horses' hair are used, allowing for precise and intricate detailing. A diverse range of colors, including captivating shades of blue, red, and black, are employed, inspired by Moroccan fortunes, dining tables, and walls.

To enhance their visual appeal and practicality for everyday use, the tiles are coated with a special material that imparts a shiny finish. They are then returned to the oven for an additional eight hours, this time being baked using burned wood. This final step ensures the tiles are suitable for daily use, allowing you to confidently incorporate them into your routine. Whether you use them with cold or hot water, the paint remains long-lasting and vibrant.

Moving to the artistry of Zellige, the tiles undergo additional firings before being handed over to Nekkach, an expert artisan. Based on the intended placement of the Zellige, Nekkach meticulously arranges the tiles in captivating geometric patterns, drawing inspiration from ancient references such as Karaouiyn and the grand palaces of Moroccan kings. This intricate process showcases the true workmanship of clay in the city of Fes, preserving the rich legacy of Moroccan artistry.

By acquiring these Hand Engraved Animals On Mosaic Tiles, you contribute to the revival of a dying craft, ensuring the everlasting connection between the past and the present. Moreover, your support brings happiness and sustenance to the skilled workers who dedicate their talents to this remarkable field. Experience the beauty and creativity of Moroccan craftsmanship with Custo Mosaic's exceptional handmade mosaic tiles.
