Ra, the creator of all things, out of nothingness. He did cause he didn't want to be alone. After Ra emerged from nothingness, he created other beings for company. As creator, he was king of gods and men, and in early times he lived on Earth. As master of the Universe and the first king of the Earth, all pharoahs looked to Ra as an example of leadership and needed his approval for all their decisions. As Ra grew older, he decided to leave the Earth and he became the sun. Every day he created life and energy for the Earth by crossing the sky in his golden boat, called the "Solar Barque." All Ra's descendant gods went with him as he slowly and majestically crossed the sky: Shu and Tefnut, his first children, then Geb and Nut, his grandchildren. After them came Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys, his great- grandchildren. They protected Ra on his dangerous journey through the dark waters of the Underworld every night. Ra was loved and trusted by the people of ancient Egypt, royalty and common folk alike. Amulets of Ra were worn for protection by the living, and placed on mummies to protect them in the afterlife.
